ABOUT US

Our History

In 1988, a Band Council Resolution (BCR) authorized the Interim Kanehsatà:ke Board of Education to begin negotiations with the Department of Indian Affairs for the gradual take-over of education programs and services. Through the Interim Board, the Kanehsatà:ke Education Centre was created. The Kanehsatà:ke Education Centre has now been in existence for 30 years and there are two schools in the community: Rotiwennakehte and Ratihente High School.

Our Artwork

Our logo, featuring the three clans of the Kanien’keha:ka people, Wolf, Bear and Turtle, was designed by Katsi’tsa’kwas Ellen Gabriel of Kanehsatà:ke
